About Me

Life is many things. It is amazing, wonderful, hard, surprising, sad, unpredictable, magical and beautiful. However, there is one thing it is not. Life is not fair. We all face our challenges, together we can make the choice to make the most of life despite them.

Like anyone I have had my ups and downs in life. Like many others I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I got married in my 30’s and had three kids. Things felt happy, crazy, hard, but normal. Not perfect, but with lots of perfect moments.

Then something completely unexpected happened. In the summer of 2021 my then nine year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. She had leukemia and needed 25 months of chemo treatments. It was hard, very, very hard, but we got through it. She is a survivor. In November 2023 she rang the victory bell.

I decided it was time to finally take care of myself and change my life. The year I turned 47 was going to be my year. In January 2024 I started eating healthy, counting calories, and exercising. I felt great. I became a runner. I lost about 70 pounds. My BMI went from 42 to 28. I felt strong, happy, and in control of my life.

Then something unexpected happened… again. I was diagnosed with breast cancer September 2024. The short version is I had a single mastectomy in November 2024, I didn’t need chemo, but did need radiation, and am now on hormone therapy, and hoping to have reconstruction done in the future. My doctors say one of the best things I can do to beat this is to keep eating healthy, exercising, and possibly to lose a bit more weight, or at leat to maintain. So now more than ever I need to conquer my challenges.

I wanted to start a blog to share what I have learned, and create a community of support. Every person’s journey is unique. Whatever your fight is join me on the quest to be the best version of ourselves.

Some of my inserests I plan to write about include:
